Socal Weekly Forecast (6/8 – 6/14)

Overview

We’re going to have one of the slowest weeks in quite some time for SoCal. Very different than last week, as the South Pacific takes a brief break. There will still be some noticeable south swell in the water throughout this week’s forecast, but nothing over 2-3 feet for the majority of spots across the region. We will see an uptick in localized NW windswell for the backhalf of the workweek, so there will still be some surf to work with for most breaks.

Our local water temperatures have slowly climbed into the mid 60s for a nice part of SoCal, but unfortunately that looks to change quickly late in the week as we look to get stronger west winds in the afternoons that should be enough for some decent coastal upwelling. Morning winds will be mostly favorable, compared to the afternoons where we’ll see much bumpier conditions.

Best Bets

-Try to target Thursday morning with the small combo of swells and favorable morning winds.

-Bring out a longer board if you’re still looking for a fun surf.

Daily Breakdown (June 8th – 14th)

Tuesday the 8th: 2-3 feet

Just some small leftover south swell in the water as minor NW windswell barely mixes in. Light south wind will be on it early, so most spots will be dealing with texture right out of the gates. If looking for a surf, find somewhere that handles the SE wind.

Wednesday the 9th: 2-3 feet  Continued southern hemi will show rideable surf for top breaks, while an upstick in localized NW windswell shows in the afternoon due to breezy NW winds right off the coast. These afternoon winds will make a dent in our water temperatures by at least a few degrees towards the end of the workweek.

Thursday the 10th: 2-3 feet

Southern hemi continues to hang on, while localized NW windswell shows best in the morning. Winds will be lighter than the past two mornings, so with the small combo of swells and favorable winds, this looks like the morning to target.

Friday the 11th: 1-3 feet  Combo of small swells will ease, showing even smaller surf than the beginning of the week. Morning winds look favorable, so it could still be fun on a bigger board. Also watch out for the cooler water temperatures.

Saturday the 12th: 1-3 feet

Combo of swells will bottom out, not showing a whole lot of size out there for the majority of spots across SoCal. High pressure looks to build in over the weekend, and if it builds far enough west, we may see the June Gloom pattern dissipate some. Morning winds don’t look too bad at the moment.

Sunday the 13th: 2-3 feet

A tad more swell in the water than Saturday, but not by much. A mix of south and NW swells will make things rideable, but the early low tide and possible texture on it may limit any opportunity of getting fun surf.

Monday the 14th: 2-3 feet

Similar combo of swells to Sunday, with maybe a touch more size. If the morning winds cooperate, the mid-morning tide push could be worth a surf.
